How to enable and configure Steam Mobile Authenticator
One of them is email verification. However, this method is not considered secure, as if the email is hacked, there is a risk of losing control over the account.
Another option is using the official Steam mobile apps available for Android and iOS.
The process of setting up the mobile authenticator on Android and iOS devices is identical. As an example, let's consider the procedure on two devices. After installing the app and logging into your Steam account.
Then open the menu on the right and select Steam Guard:
Here, click “Add authenticator” to start setting up.
After entering your phone number and confirming it to receive an SMS message with a verification code from the Steam service, if the code cannot be received, you will need to request it again.
Please note that the delivery time of the message may vary depending on your mobile operator.
If the SMS message does not arrive within a few hours, it is recommended to contact the service's support team.
After entering the verification code, you will be provided with a recovery code. This code should be stored in a secure place to allow you to independently regain access to your account in case you lose your phone or the authenticator. It is important not to skip this step.
After completing all the steps, you will be able to confirm your login using the following methods:
1. Scanning a QR code using the Steam mobile app.
2. Entering the verification code received in the Steam mobile app.
3. Entering the 6-digit code sent to your phone in the mobile app.
